Medford, H.C. diaries, 1864.

The diaries covered the period between January 19 - February 15, and March 10 - April 14, 1864. Besides the diaries of H. C. Medford the materials include items relating to the transcription of the diaries by Rebecca W. Smith and Marion Mullins. The diaries were published in the Southwestern Historical Quarterly, Vol. 34, No. 2, p. 106-140 and No. 3, p. 203-230.

Harvey C. Medford was born in Marion County, Alabama on January 11, 1831. He moved with his parents to Itawamba County, Mississippi and then followed his father to Texas. He was educated at Larissa College in Cherokee County, Texas and graduated in 1859. After the war, he moved to Tupelo, Mississippi and began practicing law. He died in Tupelo on October 17, 1902.
